IPL / FPL Treatment

What is IPL / FPL?

IPL uses focused, broad-spectrum light to treat various skin conditions by penetrating into different underlayers of the skin. In our clinic we use fluorescent pulsed light (FPL), a better, patented version of IPL. FPL uses unique fluorescent filters to allow only the desired wavelengths of light through, to accurately treat the underlayers of the skin. Blemishes absorb the light energy and are broken down.

Conditions IPL can help

We use FPL for skin conditions associated with natural aging: wrinkles, pigmentation such as sunspots, freckles and melasma, and broken veins and capillaries. It can also smoothen uneven tone and reduce enlarged pores.

We also use FPL for permanent hair removal - mainly on the underarms and face, and also on the legs, arms, chest, back and bikini area.

The treatment

Our doctors calibrate the intensity based on your skin type and the severity of the condition. A special gel is applied and the smooth glass surface of the handpiece is gently placed on the skin, emitting pulses of light. There is hardly any discomfort - you may just feel brief sensations of heat with each flash. The procedure takes about 20 minutes.

Afterwards, some people experience mild flushing - similar to after a good workout - lasting at most an hour. Pigments darken, then drop off after a few days, and skin feels smoother and lighter within a week. There is generally no recovery time.

How long does it last?

Treatment is administered in a series of sessions that provide excellent long-term results with minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction. Depending on the number and severity of conditions treated, a series of four to six sessions may be recommended.
